Pecha Kucha - now in BCN

20 slides. 20 seconds per slide. Automatic slide transition. That is the frame for presenting your message on a Pecha Kucha (Japanese for the sound of conversation) night. This compressed format spurs creativity and enhances the focus: What do you want to say? And what slides will make your message stick? The room vibrates with creativity and new ideas as the speakers follow each other rapidly.

Already present in 129 cities, last Friday Pecha-Kucha premiered in Barcelona, and we went there to experience 12 creative speakers in a fully packed room. “Eco-innovation as a new business in Catalunya”, “My failed design concepts”, “Design of a luxury mansion in the jungle”, “The creation of a graphic novel about my mum’s childhood” and a surreal performance… In 2 hours, with a small mingling break, we got our minds full.

I left the evening inspired and happy about the creative, innovative pulse that still buzzes in Barcelona. The world is sprinkled with ideas – events like Pecha Kucha is a step to bring them together, and spark something new. And if nothing else, it gave me tonnes of inspiration for future presentations. Hopefully the next event will take place soon, with possibilities to accommodate an even larger audience. Until the slides from Barcelona come online, here is a taste of the concept:
